Girls Youth

Girls Youth

The Knights are one of the country’s top box lacrosse clubs offering individual training, team training and tournament play.  We have coupled these opportunities with some of the best teachers in the BOX game to ensure your experience is not just beneficial, but arguably the best experience you have ever had playing lacrosse!!

Our top boys teams are recognized nationally, competing against the best box players and teams in North America at some of the game’s most reputable events.  Our intention is to build the same reputation on the girls side!!

Our ultimate goal is to create teams and to train them for the 2 groundbreaking girls box events, but if year 1 looks more like a training group than a team, that’s ok and will set us up for success in year 2.

We are inviting the area’s best players to the box for the following girls youth teams:

  • Girls Peewees – grade 5/6 (31/32’s)
  • Girls Bantams – grade 7/8 (29/30’s)

All of our youth players/teams will be offered:

    • 9 Team Practices
      • Sundays at Forekicks Norfolk
    • 2 Team Events/Tournaments
    • 6 Skills & Concepts Practices

Typical Game Day Roster
  • 16-19 players
    • Offensive Players:
      •   Offensive players are highly skilled, proven scorers.
      • Strong attackmen and goal scoring midfielders fill these roles.
    • Offensive Righties:  3-4 players
    • Offensive Lefties:  3-4 players
  • Transition players:  2-3 players
    • Transition players are generally middies or LSM’s in field lacrosse that play a 2-way role at both ends of the floor.
    • Transition players generate transition offense out of the defensive end and when playing offense, they prevent offensive transition from their opponent by getting back on defense.
  • Defenders:  6-7 players
    • Traditionally defensemen or midfielders fills these spots.
    • Real defenders love to grind on defense, and win ground balls while concentrating on playing both, on and off-ball defense. Working tirelessly on every substitution is also key to the position.
  • 2 – Goalies (ANYONE can play goalie, regardless of field position!!)
    • Have fun wearing all the big pads inside the small goal!!
    • All pads are provided for goalies with exception of helmet, gloves, cup and stick.
Cost Breakdown

We have broken up the overall cost for families to receive the most value while participating with the Knights.  We want our program to make sense for someone that may not be able to make a full commitment.  This model also allows us to be more inclusive and offer training to more players to grow the game!!

Our ultimate goal is to train and field teams at these groundbreaking events, but if year 1 looks more like a training group than a team, that’s ok and will set us up for success next year.

Membership fees per player:

  • Girls Peewee (2031 & 2032) – $450
  • Girls Bantams (2029 & 2030) – $450

Membership fee covers all Sunday team practices and all Wednesday Skills & Concepts practices.

Events:
Each event will come with its own cost.  The price will be determined based on a variety of factors and will range between $250-$350.

Event Invites:
Soon after tryouts are over, an availability form will be distributed to all Knights families.  Once completed, we will generate rosters and provide everyone with registrations for their assigned events.

We will try to provide opportunity for everyone to play in 2 events, but can only guarantee that every player will be invited to at least 1 event.

Uniform:
The uniform is an additional cost purchased directly through Lax.com at a price of $130.  We elected to use a new reversible uniform this year (2024-25), which we plan to use again in 2025-26 to help keep the Knights Box program affordable.

Additional Products:
Knights custom box helmets, helmet decals, equipment bags and spirit wear are not inclusive to our offering.  These products will be made available soon after tryouts to players and families invited to play for the Knights through an online store set up with Lax.com.
